I've lived too long and seen too much to allow myself to be hopeful yet. A part of me *wants* to believe, but the suspicious part of me says, "No. It's a trap. Watch and wait." The whole drama tickles the suspicious part of me that doesn't trust good things to simply exist. That part of my brain say that this whole thing serves the same function as a pressure relief valve on a steam engine. That the PTB have seen that the whole of society is overheating because they pushed it too far, too hard and too fast and now they have to let some of the pressure off so it all doesn't blow up. Explosions are too chaotic and uncontrollable. So let the proles have the illusion of a "win" for a little while, to get them to relax a little, and let their guard down again. Then it's right back to globohomopedo business as usual. I hope I'm wrong. But I don't think so. I've seen this show play out too many times before in different formats. Ask me again in a couple years.
