Picked up a couple of cheap supercapacitor UPS devices from chinamostfinestgoodlyproductforyou.com...wanted something to hold up a "power out" notifier long enough to get a help message out.

The device will hold a 250mA load up for about 3 minutes, which is exactly what I want. Pretty amazing for $24 shipped.

Basically, we're fucked. Can't build that in the states for $24.

I purchased a rubber gasket today and I noticed “not for sale overseas.”

Yeah. Certain products don’t meet local standards. Used to get relays like that, supposed to be for oceana only. Still bought them in the states.

Invest in a fire extinguisher.

It's surprisingly well made. No worse than the shit you get from a store.

There definitely is different tiers of Chinesuim.

I'm well aware of that. This company is one of those other-tier pi suppliers, I've used stuff from them before. It seems to do the job.

Supercapacitors are what will make EVs plausible, if we can ever figure out something on that scale.

Yeah, that's the only way. Batteries are just far too material intensive to do anything long term.
