Easily worth 600$

That sounds fair. Come in way under budget and look like a rock star. <--- #1 rule of contracting.

Ive got some ideas myself easily get it down to 550

I didn't install the plastic cap on the rj45 keystone, that shaved about 1700 off alone. I could shorten the cable as well because everybody knows that stuff is $100 an inch.

edit: short story time related to cable length/cost. Back in 94 I was doing network installs with this older guy who had been dealing with all manner of cabling on the arpanet in universities and gov would always pull the cable drops out of the wiring closet down the hall and tie them to a chair. One day I ask "Why pull so long? Isn't that a waste?". His reply of "The most expensive cable on Gods earth is the one that is one inch to short."... Words to live by, also that's what she said.

Of curse you can, if you have been assigned the work. We did a quick update on a computer for a local small town government. The mayor said he needed to keep it under $200. It came in at $199. We charged about $20 less than normal on this one. Income is still income. If you have a real opportunity to make a tidy profit, why would you not maximize it, if there is no chance of it coming back to bite you in the ass? You're just making a living, not running a fuck-everyone hedge fund.

Yeah that is the truth. I will install it and show them how easy it is and see if they want one in every office. The install is where you make the money anyways. Install 3 plug keystone faceplates (got 100 plus on hand paid for from another job) and itemize everything in a bill. Can most likely milk this one up to a couple thousand.

Is clever but I picture some boomer using this b/c encryption is hard.

Yeah it is an office full of boomer r tards. I wonder how had this thing would fry a NIC if it got plugged in... Think I will make a dummy plug that has no connection to plug in so that doesn't happen.

I'd be surprised if it did but I suppose it's possible. I'm pretty sure I must have crossed all those wires before installing a plug on some rj45 that was still plugged in cuz lazy.

edit meant cat 5 but you know what I meant

Yeah it would most likely be ok. Most Nics have opto-iso diode protection, the thumb drive on the other hand might take a wallop.
