Drive is a great movie, as much for its choice of music as anything else. The director (or maybe it was the producer) had a great ear for popular music. The only one I can compare him to is Tarantino, who also has a good ear for music.
The movie is a repackaging of the old Western movie, Shane. I'm surprised more people haven't noticed this, but I don't see anyone else pointing this fact out. The plot of Drive is essentially the same plot of Shane. A stranger shows up, and helps out a mother and her young boy in ways the father in unable to do. He falls in love with the mother. In the end, the stranger sacrifices himself to save them, then rides off wounded, maybe to die or maybe to recover, we don't really know for sure.
Interesting! I just watched Drive last night so I posted this.
I actually still have this sound track downloaded in flac from the original release like 10 years ago. Wow not only am I old hit my data is old.
