You are probably smarter than almost every teacher in the public system. You probably will teach better because you are invested in your kids success. You don't need anywhere near the amount of time the school system does to fail its job.

Worried about socialization? Join homeschool family groups and get your kids into local clubs, sports, etc.

Between the bullshit I went through in school and the bullshit my oldest daughter was already seeing by third grade, my wife and I made that decision years ago. My second child has never been to school. We do workbooks and online lessons plus real life learning. My 10 year old can cook better than most adults. They know how to clean up, they can identify a lot of wild flora and fauna, what's edible and what's poisonous, and they even know a bit about woodworking from me. The 10 year old loves my band saw. School is for people who can't live on one salary but decided to shit out a bunch of kids anyway, or they're just lazy.
