Last week's was pretty interesting. I know a wee bit about this subject and have an opinion!

Your goal is to share your view. It's not "the best." It's "your favorite." It's also - why. Why is it your favorite. Try for at least two paragraphs.

Mine is the MG-42 (Maschinengewehr 42 or Machine Gun 42). You guessed it, it was produced starting in 1942. The thing has a great history, but I'm not going to get into it here. I highly encourage folks to look it up, it's awesome.

Anyhow, that son of a bitch put 1,200 rounds per minute. It was very reliable, easy to operate, and straight up effective. The wall of defensive fire these laid down in places was thick. They were true beasts

I'm pretty sure there were some varied configurations, but I can't remember all of them. I'm sure Wikipedia knows, or some other site out there has information about it. They were awesome firearms and anyone who doesn't appreciate them is just plain wrong.

They were pretty sweet. I don't want one, I want two.

There, that's a start. Teach me something about your favorite of these specific firearms. Tell me why they're your favorite.

Given my limited fire arms knowledge. I have to go with the Maschinenpistole 28. Its a sub machine gun, so fully automatic which is cool. The MP 28 was produced by Haenel under the supervision of Hugo Schmeisser, it was copied by the Second Spanish Republic under the codename Naranjero. The Naranjero was chambered in 9mm Largo. Admittedly that last part was copied from wikipedia but I enjoyed reading the entry. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP_18#Evolution for anyone else that would like to read it.

I've seen that before. Did the tank crews carry something like that?

I believe that would be the MP 18 I don't think this one ever reached any wide spread adoption before the end of the war.

I've watched a ton of docs and read a bunch of books, but they were for entertainment. It's entertainment, not scholarly pursuits.

There's a ton I don't know about this subject.
