Families living on 100k/year. I live on 20k/year.

I thought about buying a decent new bike and everything I was interested in is over 1500 usd plus shipping from Asia which is 3-400.00 additional.

Well, that's the thing, if you don't require a lot of things, you can do it. But most people can't resist spending above their means.

True but I can't afford home repairs or dental care amongst other things. After all my bills I live on basically $200/month sometimes less.

The only reason I live in my "own" home is because my uncle left it to me in his will.

Oh yeah. I'm watching this with my brother. My parents left him a house and a car, but he can't afford the taxes on any of it. You learn that you really own nothing. And the taxman keeps raising taxes. There's a crisis that no one is talking about. Governments give so much graft out it's not funny. But someone has to pay for this.

As a thought experiment, I wondered how much taxes we'd actually have to pay without corruption and theft. I'm guessing it's less than half or maybe 75% less than what we pay now. Imagine a time when the US tax rate was 3%. I know, hard to believe.
