Did this for a year straight, nothing gets you stronger physically and mentally than this. It's very difficult to do for long periods of time.
There's some good shit in this video. I learned taijiquan from a high level molecular biologist and we did some of these exercises in this video. I've always heard the method called "standing stake" but I knew as soon as I saw your words "standing like a tree" I'd be seeing some qigong/standing stake work. You did not disappoint.

Standing like this all day will change you're fucking life.
Half horse stance, back foot has toes perpendicular to the line, front foot has heel on the same line at a 45 degree angle.
First posture you're developing your solar plexus muscles by standing like that. That's why they tell you to breathe normally through the nose.
The further your arms are away the more leverage it places on the SP muscles.
