Is inheriting a house actually that great? Early in your career the benefit of mobility is key so that you can move to maximize your utility (earnings & quality of life). In addition, house maintenance and property taxes are non-trivial. Sure, it's great later in life when you're established and are unlikely to want to move...but it seems like it'd suck when you were a 20-something.

Much of Europe has little/ no property tax, but yeah I see what you're saying.
