How fast do they degrade?

How do they perform in hot and cold weather?

Can they be made commercially viable at industrial scale?

The motor to spin the alternator would use more energy than the alternator would make. So it would really just be a drain on the battery. Regenerative braking does extend the battery output but not enough to keep the car going indefinitely.
