My dog picked up on how when I say "alright" I'm about to get up, so she does too. That wasn't an intentional command. She also watches for certain cues when my wife is getting ready to leave somewhere so she can ride along. Stuff like putting shoes on is enough to make her obnoxious until the ride happens.

In other words, dogs aren't retarded. Even my cute but dumb dog has learned lead-in words for things she likes. "Do you want..." Let's..." "Is it time for..." Even if I'm talking directly to my wife and not in a cutesy I love this little ball of fur voice that's obviously directed towards dog.

Can confirm. Before bed I ask my dog "Do you like bones?" Then he gets a treat before bed. All I have to say now is "Do you..." and he runs to the treat jar.
