So if you’ve followed any of my posts in /caretaking you’ll know I moved to help my dad.

It’s been a rough year+. He was constantly sick and was hospitalized with double pneumonia. His ex-wife/wife (it’s complicated) died. Etc etc etc.

I moved to a home on his property. It’s been difficult. It’s hard for me to focus because he has cognitive and memory issues and bad balance. Im always checking on him and it’s hard when he always misplaced his phone. But he loves to be outside and working with lots of dangerous tools to maintain the property (lots basically in the woods).

We decided to find a house we can cohabitate in. And it needed to not have so much land, inclines, and declines. Things moved fast. His houses and land sold quickly. And the house being built won’t be ready for at least a couple months. So, we had to find a short-term rental.

We found one an hour away. Very fancy, so it will be better than staying in hotel rooms. Less expensive as well. But my dad has his dog and while she is a sweet girl, she’s half nigger dog. Not everyone likes that and I get it.

The owners of the rental wanted to meet the dog. They fell in love with her and she got lots of pets. They had no issue with her being there. She’s such a good girl :)

We were alerted to bobcat and bear sightings. Definitely going to make sure her collar and leash are snug during walks.

Thank you, papatooth. And not mentioned often is my mother. She lives in a different state with my oldest brother who has had both legs amputated and is on dialysis. I noticed mom wasn’t replying to my texts as much. Then less and less. For many personal reasons, I don’t have a relationship with that brother. Well, I finally had to see what’s up.

Mom is now in assisted living. All these things are what I’d pray nightly to “give my family one more year of health.” Sadly, these times are inevitable.

Be strong SSOB's. We can ask God why us but it's not for us to know why. You will be in my prayers.
