We found a barely weened kitten not even two weeks ago. I brought him to the warehouse to join the other mousing cats. These cats drop like flies though. One got caught up in a fan and got chopped up, I had to break its neck to finish the job.. poor thing. Another got chewed up by a dog or coyote. We didn’t know where the hell it went until we started smelling it. The cat got chewed up and then escaped only to bleed out in the axle of our trailer. That cats sister went blind out of nowhere too. I say it’s always good to show these animals compassion and give them a fighting chance.
Yeah it sucks to put an animal down, older I get the more it sucks. I had a kitten once hitch hike from my work to home under the jeep, 25 miles. I heard a meow when I got home, wtf? Oh yeah and thats not counting the one under the hood that started smelling.
If your area is prone to feral cats, check under the vehicle on cold days. They crawl in for the residual heat from the motor and it grows into a habitual 'safe' space for them. Until it isn't.
Its Texas, more feral cats than hogs. Dog does his job everyday before I leave.
