It's a Borzoi. Also known as a Russian Wolfhound, bred to hunt and run down wolves, no less. They are in the hound group and are "sight or gaze hounds". A rather large slim breed and amazing fast.

they are big dogs and have big long jaws. Mostly they ran down the wolf and basically attempted to hold the animal so a hunter could kill it.
