Just thought this was cool. Story is from almost 4 years ago, though. I wonder how many people have been lucky enough to have dogs like this?

When I was a kid a strange man walked into the house. I ran upstairs and hid under a bed. My dog, instead of barking like she usually did, came upstairs and stayed quiet while she guarded me.

It ended up being my father's co-worker looking for him, and he mistakenly told him he'd be home when he wasn't.

Another time my sister got out of the house as a toddler and wandered into town. Our dog followed her and kept circling and growling refusing to let anyone close to her. The church they were near had to end up calling to ask someone to come get her. Lol.

Dogs actually make really good babysitters if you have neglectful parents.

I know what you mean. I had a dog that was very protective of me as a child, and our bond was unlike any other. Dogs really are too good for this world.

Absolutely! My two dogs are very protective of our family and the property. They more than earn their keep and in return they are treated as a family member.

They "are" a family member.

Yeah. They definitely know the difference between grown humans and children humans which is neat.

You can tell they're truly pack animals. They know they're nothing without their families.
