I am fairly sure I have a old ass phone sitting in a bin somewhere that would probably still turn on today and its from the early 2000's. I wonder if I will be able to say that about any of these "everything is a touchscreen" phones in 25 years?
I really hated phones when the touchscreen was soft and scratchable, in the blackberry era. Not that I like smartphone touchscreens either. I miss actual keyboards.
I hated touchscreens then, I hate them now.

I had the treo's with the physical keyboard... before that, never texted.
That article completely ignores all the HTC Windows Mobile phones that you could flash custom ROMs to and install Java games and programs on. They were basically mini PCs with foldout qwerty physical keyboards. Getjar.com and xdadevelopers.com were kings of that era.
Owned 3. Before that a mx220 to just get the ability to teather as a job I had to get out.
We had most of those except the blackberries and the Motorola. I had a different Motorola that was tiny but it started dropping calls and Verizon wouldn’t honor the warranty.
I had a Blackberry Curve. Thing was a tank. RIM had highly-resistant servers that were ran for BB stuff, I could get pictures and data out in places where most people could barely get a text message.
RAZR is the GOAT
I think I still have my phones from back then. I had a Nokia that I got a clear case put on, and the antenna was replaced with a laser pointer which was handy for work meetings.
I probably still have the first phones (or one of the first) to have a camera in the phone. Low quality pics and it took a while to upload the pics to a text, but it did the trick.
