How’d they swing over and then up to the nest?
My guess is they had 2 dangling strings of ants, one on the nest and one from the ceiling, eventually the breeze allowed them to merge into what we see in this video. Just a guess.

Maybe so, it’s a long loop. I was thinking it could have started out as a trail of them across the roof, climbing over each other to get there at first. The weight and gravity pulled them away. A small loop at first, then gradually growing longer and longer as more ants and more weight joined the fray.
Hard to say, it’s a pretty clever approach however it was accomplished!
