Unless one has lived there, through this, and intimately knows the nuance of the culture, it's impossible to compare the destruction. Through all of this, in the US, we still had minimal freedom of movement. We haven't started getting arrested for our social media posts yet. I'd rather be here, though i say this in ignorance, having never visited China.
Yeah I guess you can say you just don't know if you haven't lived there. From the outside it looks like they have a fairly orderly society that allows people freedom of movement, freedom of speech minus criticizing the government, and didn't force-close small businesses forcing the middle class towards poverty. I'm sure they've got plenty of problems too.
That's just an outsiders perspective though.
Edit: I wonder how they view our lockdown measures. Do you think the grass looks greener on our side of the fence? I mean they do buy property here.
