I would vote for body color for the grille. I think it just looks smoother that way.

Go matte black - just enough contrast to make it pop, and the matte finish holds up better under projectile bug impacts.

I’m with duck. Matte black. Then put other accents as matte black. Rims, bumpers, etc. And yellow star? When was this ever yellow? Though they were all White. Or alabaster in reality.

When I got it in 98 it was original from the military olive green with white decals no stars
