He was perfectly safe there so long as he had no highly conductive materials on his exterior. The series-parallel circuit arrangement puts the total voltage at merely 65 volts or thereabout. That voltage is far too little to be a danger. The current level may be high, but without sufficiently high voltage with it, the danger is low overall until you have a direct short. Ohm's Law and shit.
