The small filter on the right is what I have been using for years, it's what the book calls for. The big green one is what I upgraded too. Much more surface area for filtration, and it's got a magnet in the bottom to trap any metal shavings that may be floating around in the oil. It fit right on with no adapters needed. Adapters would be needed for other purposes though.
Good stuff. I should make sure my next filter has a mag in it. I drive something old as hell and there is probably a bit of crap kicking around in there....
Exactly, mine is a 2001 so I need to take extra precautions. I had gotten some neodymium magnets to put on the outside of it before I realized it had one built in. I thought it had gotten stuck to the bed of the truck somehow when I went to pick it up. Had to monkey around with it before I realized what was going on. I had to go get the box to verify.
