Head light went out. The bulb is good and the socket is in decent shape, but wasn't making the connection unless squeezed. Seeing as that is difficult to do while driving, I'm giving this zip tie a go.

I actually have a spare headlight assembly that I could swap out, but hopefully this works so I don't have to mess with it further.

Not sure why the socket stopped making the connection. Cheap Chinese aftermarket part with poor tolerance manufacturing is likely.

Good job with the fix.

Thermal expansion?

Thanks

Those halogen blubs do get really hot, but the socket should be designed for it. The headlight on the other side isn't having an issue. I didn't have this problem with the OEM part either. I only replaced the assemblies about a year ago because they were getting really yellow and cloudy. It made the whole car look bad.

If it looks stupid, and it works, it is not stupid.

Anything exposed to the elements is prone to corrosion, had an ABS plug that wasn't making connection and come to find out the pins were dustified into sweet sweet powder

There was a small amount of corrosion, even though I had it packed in grease. It wasn't too bad and even after I sanded it out I still had the issue, but can't rule out corrosion entirely.
