I did a repower on my mower this summer after the old engine catastrophically failed. It was a fun project.
I had to wire a new headlight circuit because the new motor's alternator was a single output for charging, whereas the old motor had a dual output for charging and headlights.
I did a few other things like sanding and painting the muffler, repairing a crack in the gas tank, and experimenting with tire slime to get a bit more life out of tubeless tires.
The repowered unit cuts like a charm. My only concern now in the sealed transmission unit. That's my next best guess for a failure.
