The ol’ rivet forges with a crank blower can be had fairly cheap. Used one with lump charcoal for years making knives. Black Bear Forge puts out some good videos.
sounds awesome! but youtube has somehow become faker and gayer and wont show the video to me. You know how lots of moms or dads will count down from a certain number in hopes of getting a child to do a specific thing by the time they hit "1"? Youtube just did that to me! "'Remove your add blocker, after three videos if you dont allow us to show you adds, we will turn off the video permanently. if you dont want adds, you can pay for premium."'
Lol I ignored them. Still getting videos, though some ads slip through somehow.
My older brother did something like this. He used the exhaust of a shop vac and actual coal. He was in metal shop so he brought home some tool plate to use as his anvil. Way better setup.
Thanks, nice idea for cheap/basic introduction to the craft. Wouldn't a vice be a decent anvil?
Yes. Absolutely. Our father didn't want us pounding on his vice.
BTW, you can make your own charcoal too.
Makes sense of you had an anvil. For the video, I would rather use a cheap voice than the sledge.
