I'm still using powdered boric acid from the same 4oz container I bought at CVS in 1990 ($1.59 on the price tag). It doesn't take much, added to sugar and water. I used soda bottle caps filled with mix and put them in the path of the ants, they would eat it up in a day. A couple days later, no more ants. The colony would collapse because the boric acid mix would be fed to the Queen and make her sterile. I didn't know it works on wasps and hornets.
