Then they are doing a scheme like wireless charging (wired.com).

Or they got their hands on some transparent conductive material (newatlas.com) and hid it in the plexiglass, running wires through the metal table to the transparent conductive material.

You're talking about charging a phone here, there's much more power involved with that engine than there's in charging 10 androids

They could easily do it with microwaves, but my money is on a transparent conductor through the plexiglass.
