i have a nice reflux column i built out of 2 inch copper pipe. i cut it up into sections to put a new condenser section and glass chamber. i never got around to putting it back together. i use an empty beer keg as a still pot. i have a picture of it before i finished it.
nice, that is the kind of setup i would like to have. my pot is only 5 gallons. 10 gallons i think would be best.
I have been wanting to make a column like that for a long time now. the one thing i dont see see is how you keep it cold, you must have a coil inside, anyways. thanks for sharing
yea the very top section has a coil of 1/4" soft copper inside it to circulate water. i want to cut that part off though and put in this 2 inch condenser section i bought. i want to put it before the vapor makes the turn to see if it works better. it works good now but the small water line in the top there isnt much flow but i got over 180 proof out of it. plus ill be able to take it apart a bit for easier storage. mile high distilling has parts to convert kegs now. mine uses the original keg flange with the guts knocked out. its hard to clean i was going to get the keg parts from there and convert another one.
nice, i would still like that style... tech, it is illegal here to distill ethanol, unless for farm use, or water & essential oils. If someone came by or a cop seen it in my garage, not a good time. I would have some explaining to do.
yeah the taller column the better, more neutral product. the highest i ever got was 97% I was shocked... I should find the picture for you
well, this one says 94% but I have hit 97 before
