The correct expression when discussing a defensive gun use is “shoot to stop the threat.”

That’s what you’re trying to do when when your life or that of a loved one is threatened. You are not trying to commit a homicide, however justifiable that may be in a given situation. Even if you’re aiming at the bad guy’s head or shooting at him or her point-blank. You are shooting to stop the threat.

That's shitty advice about the police. You shouldn't say anything at all except through your attorney. The police can "misremember" what you said, and then it's your word against theirs in court. You say nothing except "I'll give a statement through my attorney".

This is exactly the response I was hoping for when I posted the article.

I upvoted you nigger remember that...

Whether you're innocent or not, get a lawyer. Never talk to the police about a potential investigation without a lawyer present. Innocent people say dumb shit all the time, accidentally incriminating themselves- overzealous cops will latch onto this innocent man sometimes.

A lot of people believe that it makes them look guilty if they refuse to go sit in an interrogation room with a pair of cops for 10+ hours without a lawyer. It only makes you look guilty to foolish people who don't understand the law.

I forget the study, but I remember that it was determined that police could get over 1/2 of people to admit to things they didn't do, given enough time and the right environment. They'll gaslight you- "Are you sure you weren't at the scene?" You know you weren't, you know exactly where you were at the time of the crime. But after the 87th time they ask you, you're exhausted, you're scared, you may start to question: "Was I actually there? Maybe I was... And maybe I did cut that lady's throat..."

Using your fifth amendment rights and retaining a lawyer when you're being looked at for criminal charges is the only correct course of action. If you were involved in the situation, but are innocent of crimes, this is where a lawyer comes in clutch. Courts can charge bystanders/witnesses with all kinds of shit. A lawyer can help protect against that, among all the other bullshit that goes on in the jewdicial system.

Judging from history, "I din do nufin" is an appropriate response also.

Only if you're not white.

Confuse them by speaking nigger. Host of plausible deniability option await.

Yo honor, I had idea that firing bullets into that white cracka Goldstein would kill him.

Yes! I forgot to include them. I hope they don't find out and revoke my membership.
(I got sidetracked while posting.)

True, but lots of people don't as well.

Agreed. I only answered the question you asked, however.

Uh, I do. Seems common to me.

Like you pay this guy monthly or you just have a guy you can call?

[–] 1 pt

Gave him 5k as a retainer. I call him, and he deducts from that.

Excellent theoretical advice. IRL, ONLY speak through an att'y.

That's why I use hollow points, there's less mass so it'll just knock them out.
