Toured a house one of my former coworkers was having built in the 90s. He was just crowing about it. Expensive place too. Floors on greater than 16" centers so they sank because they were chipboard, cheap as shit foam baseboards so you couldn't paint it, etc...

The worst offender was a piece of romex pulled in the lower level - corner to corner across the beams, as tight as could be. There was exposed copper. This wasn't a temp pull, it went into the walls. Asked the dude how the place had passed electrical inspection as that wasn't anywhere near any kind of code. Uh......I'll ask them about that.

Yeah, you do that. Then ask them how many places inside the walls are like that.
