Chicken, vegetables, crockpot. Shit I just fed her family for a week + at a fraction of the cost. I've got enough left over for fruit and rice to stretch the meat and vegetables. If we wanna get fancy I bet I could afford eggs... lol. Cheap as fuck and take minutes to cook. At least your kids can afford that field trip or you know whatever unexpected things that randomly pop up in life that require some of your saved income.
I'll never understand this mentality. If you don't have money then you can't afford to be lazy and spend money. Takes me 5 minutes to toss shit in the crockpot on a sunday. Set it... Forget it... Refrigerate when it has cooked and cooled. Lunch all week long. After getting to the point of stability in my life this is all I do still. Learned habits that save me money.
You're 100% right.
I have to laugh when I see the argument that it is expensive to eat healthy. No it isn't, it only takes some forethought and preparation. These lazy idiots can't do that, they'd rather waste their money on fast food.
My staple breakfast is oatmeal with peanut butter powder, super cheap sustenance. Sure the PB powder is a little pricey but the jar lasts a long time, so it really isn't.
