Apartment building takeovers in Aurora, CO have brought the name Tren de Aragua into the public consciousness, but the media downplays it, and few people know anything at all about this trans-national criminal gang. In the English language this would be called the 'Aragua Train' gang, and it was established about fifteen years ago. Aragua is a state in a northern Venezuela. The gang is led by a man known as "Nino Guerrero," who was headquartered in the Tocorón prison, until the prison was overtaken by Venezuelan Security forces in 2023, when Guerrero and his associates escaped and are presumably at large somewhere. The gang has expanded into no less than eleven countries throughout the Americas with at least an estimated 5000 members and besides taking over apartment buildings their activities include: protection racketeering, drug trafficking, human trafficking, forced prostitution, human smuggling, kidnapping for ransom, retail theft, robbery, illegal mining, bribery, money laundering, and of course, murder. The Aragua Train is associated with the Brazilian PCC crime syndicate.

Yeah, it'd be funny if it wasn't so real.
