I asked a lefty friend with a 20-something daughter this question once. He literally believed that guns were so difficult to use and scary that she would just hurt herself, or have it used against her in a situation like this. Head-->desk.

Just keep asking them the same question and demanding an answer. That upsets a lot of people, which is good. Because then the question will stick with them.
