That was Twain - and he's totally right. So much easier to just grift people and fool them outright than to try and show them how they're being grifted and fooled.

Reminds me of toddlers. No matter how much you show them, tell them, etc.. - they still have to try it out and get hurt to learn.

and to a degree learning on our own is a natural progression when you're young. you have to find out the stove is hot by touching, sure we can all understand that, and the toddler most likely never touches a hot stove again or is at least aware of what a hot stove can do.

ok, but then you have retards that never learn. the government (blanket term for the ppl that we pay a lot of money to presuably run society in a functioning way) lies over and over and over, while demanding ever more of our money to give us less and less in return while living in a way completely opposed to what they expect from citizens. so in this example these ppl never learn, they keep "touching the stove" over and over and expecting different results.

the intelligence of most of us here or in general maybe is really just pattern recognition and a set of balls to stand behind your experiences.
