Clotting and bleeding aren't necessarily mutually exclusive. With excessive clotting, the platelets in the blood get depleted, reducing the ability of the blood to clot further. The clotting was in response to damage to blood vessels, which if it continues beyond the point that the blood is able to clot in response will result in unclotted damaged small blood vessels which will break open and leak. Depending on where this occurs, it could be a "bruise" or a stroke, resulting in consequences that range from mild discomfort to sudden death.
