This data puts us near the worst it has ever been during this entire pandemic. They are having to fly patients to remote hospitals because the urban hospitals are so full.

Omicron has been sequenced and had the shit studied out of it: it is both natural and acquired immunity resistant. Highly resistant compared to previous variants. It is much more transmissible. But it is 90% less deadly than Delta. This makes for an odd combination where we have 5 times the cases but only 3/4 the amount of deaths during the peak of Jan 2021.

And if we didn't have so many people with existing immunity to COVID-19, the deaths would be stacking sky high, likely over 10,000. Luckily, so many people have already gotten sick with this that their natural immunity is helping reduce the amount of deaths.
