So I use these tests for work (Abbot Binax). Normal usage is not to put the solution anywhere near your body. There is a swab that goes in the nose, then the swab gets placed in a "card". The solution gets dropped into the card, not on the body or in the nose.

IMHO, this is a bit of a "fear porn" headline, but still worth knowing about.

I have argued about this with several people here on Poal. The sodium azide is in the reagent solution and should never be ingested or touch your body. Also the concentration of sodium azide is so low that you would have to ingest 56 vials of reagent solution in one sitting to reach acutely toxic levels. If you're dumb enough to do that, well then you deserve what happens.
