Monday I made a thread about some gig work at a large site (Amazon warehouse) where masks are mandated. Lasted 4 days lol and I just broke in the crew I was working with re the masks. Resistance from one of the lead techs but today finally, no one said anything to me. Until we were packed up and ready to go home. One of the safety reps came up to me and we had a 'chat'. All's good until the foreman sees the safety rep talking to me about the mask. Pretty much the whole crew understands the covid bullshit but while on the job it's a different matter. He got pissed and reminded me it can get back to him to which I fully agreed. I told him I can't wear it, he told me I can go. And I did.

I'm a self-employed contractor and for the past two years, I have been able to skirt the mask issue somewhat because I work alone and usually in telecom rooms. I'll wear it briefly when I have to but take it off the first chance I get. This place was different because it's wide open space with many trades. Employees for the past two years have been wearing their masks consecutively every day. They have been conditioned where I am not. I tried to but I couldn't do it. Not only because it's insane but it's fucking gross. 20 minutes and it's moist as fuck. 2 hours and it's dripping wet. Fucking disgusting is what it is, unhygienic. So I left. Called my customer and let him know what went down but I already prepared him before hand. He's vaxxed but seems like a reasonable guy. Told me he needs my expertise so not all is lost. Just have to do jobs for him where I can still have dominion over my own fresh air.

Fuck the masks.

Nice story. I work at a power plant and the office faggots wear them and management but no one else. Contractors out the ass for outage maintenance and no one wears shit. Actually going to work feels normal.

What I don't understand is why construction companies don't push back. Where are the people with spines? I know the steady paycheque prevents that but i'm talking about the guys at the top, owners etc. At least, for the love of god, change the mandate to a 'common sense' approach. The building I was in was at least 1000' x 500' with every loading bay door open. The place is massive. You can stand there without a mask your entire life and you will not catch the coof.

Right on. I work for myself. 3 man crew trimming and removing trees. We stay outdoors year around. We actually had a homeowner last week invite us in for lunch. Asked if we were vaxxed. We said no sir and he smiled an said come on in. Its a different storry for others. Hard choices.

Self-employment is the only way I could survive in this clownworld. Sure glad I picked this career when I did. Nice to see your customer was welcoming. There's hope.

for my workplace now with the cdc saying that vaxed people don't have to wear masks, the managers are in a tough spot cause they know a few of us didn't get vaxed and also hate the masks but right now we all have to wear it and the managers can say its just about complying with lockdown stuff.

But now they have had their excuse taken away from them, and will have to selectively enforce masks or just not comply. If they try to make me wear a mask when others don't have to I will walk out on the spot. I know they don't have the spine to do that, or I can just lie to them and it will be a wink wink nod kinda thing. They don't ask, we don't tell, no one wears a mask and so they will just assume that we know the rules and follow them on an honor code or something.

They haven't made that ultimatum yet where I am but i'm sure it's coming. They're hinting of loosening the restrictions slightly but I know the masks are here to stay. At least for the unvaxxed. Unreal how the words "oppression" or "discrimination" doesn't even cross their mind. Imagine if we could treat anyone we wanted as a perceived threat without evidence, and deny them basic life fundamentals. Like fresh air. And it doesn't even cross their mind.

Exactly! How can these maskholes stand having a dripping-wet strip of cloth over their breathing orifices for hours at a stretch? I can barely stand 45 minutes at the DMV or the bank. It's like a mounting torture having that thing on my face. I can tolerate it, but only with some discomfort.
