They just lie about everything these days.

From the post: "Comcast has reluctantly agreed to discontinue its "Xfinity 10G Network" brand name after losing an appeal of a ruling that found the marketing term was misleading. It will keep using the term 10G in other ways, however.

Verizon and T-Mobile both challenged Comcast's advertising of 10G, a term used by cable companies since it was unveiled in January 2019 by industry lobby group NCTA-The Internet & Television Association. We wrote in 2019 that the cable industry's 10G marketing was likely to confuse consumers and seemed to be a way of countering 5G hype generated by wireless companies."

Yeah, everywhere that a non-comcast company comes in... things do not always go well for them.

they're killing themselves. They recently lowered our "generous" data cap from 2tb to 1.2tb. We don't have TV. We use internet for everything. I think as of the reset tonight, we have like 50gb left for the month. It's horse shit. I can deal with outages. I can deal with stupid prices. But if I want more data, I have to use their fucking equipment? FUCK YOU. Beyond the fact that I refuse to pay for their equipment, I don't trust what they backdoor their shit with.

Agreed, I have not used ISP modems/gear for a decade at least. They keep trying to get me to use their gear and I refuse. Besides, I know better what I need than they do and I have a home network that is far more complicated than the usual and I have all of my own gear to manage it. The last thing I want is any of their crap in my network to deal with.

Damn skippy. Everyone I know who uses a modem/router combo has issues and shitty range with it. Typically, more equipment means more failure points, but with this, it's actually a plus. If a power surge hits the modem, the router isn't toast. If the router takes a dump, the modem still functions. And using your own router is as easy as 192.168.x.x to enter and tweak. Their shit? You have to log into the website, install an app on your phone, or some other stupid bullshit.
