According to undercover research, an Israeli company has successfully influenced 27 elections and votes to date.
An Israeli company is manipulating elections worldwide, according to a report in the news magazine Spiegel.
Exactly who is behind the company is as yet unknown. International research, in which Spiegel was involved, shows that the secret company apparently controls fake news campaigns and hacks high-ranking politicians.
All this is done for money and to influence elections for the clients.
The head of the company is an ex-soldier with the cover name "Jorge," according to Spiegel.
That is why the secret company also calls itself "Team Jorge. It attacks politicians with hacking tools and carries out large-scale disinformation and lie campaigns for its clients.
The numbers are frightening: According to Spiegel, Team Jorge has already intervened in 33 national election campaigns and votes.
In 27 cases, it is said to have actually influenced the elections in favor of its clients. In order to steer opinion online, the secretive company controls more than 30,000 credible fake accounts on social media platforms.
Undercover research: reporters posed as clients.
According to Der Spiegel, the information comes from undercover research conducted over six months by reporters from The Marker, Haaretz and Radio France. In the process, they allegedly posed as supposedly interested parties of Team Jorge.
This wild story about "Jorge's" company allegedly manipulating 33 election campaigns and votes from Israel is brimming with signal words: "arguably," "apparently," "blatantly." Is anything there verified? Or are they passing Jorge's pitch presentation?
