No forgiveness. I can forgive overcooking a steak, making a wrong turn, missing an appointment or misspelling something. Malfeasance doesn't deserve forgiveness when it comes to murdering society. That deserves punishment that will never come close to the murders you caused. Following orders won't hold water, ignorance is a lie and tyranny was perpetrated to the masses. Your punishment needs to illustrate to future tyrants there are real repercussions.
