The ones that are always watching really irritate me. As long as your performance meets or exceeds, that should be enough.
Sounds like he is hoping you'll mess up so he can rat on you, makes people in his position feel powerful/important.
He's one of those where social matters more than work. He expects me to flirt and giggle at him and talk to him about restaurants and all kinds of personal crap like most other people do with him. I don't want to socialize with him. It's none of his business what I do outside of work and I don't do small talk well enough and I'm not good at lying. I'm not a social person. I prefer to stay to myself and do stuff on my own. I don't need to know what people look like to work with them. I don't need to know about their kids and dogs.
I only have a couple of people that I really talk to at work and even then, it's not like we're close. He just creeps me out and I know it's because he is bored and expects us to entertain him and that's not what my job is. I'm sure his wife hates him and never speaks to him, so he tries to get his social points from work.
You have a better read than I do. Still don't like those types either!
