I don't want to be that guy suggesting "have you tried [something else]?"... It's not as if you didn't think about it a thousand times already. Now what looks almost certain is that you need something else on the side, anything worth attaching your hopes to because as it is, it sounds like everything is a giant one way grey corridor to you, with nothing else other than a door at the end of it with "death" written on it. That's not super healthy.
I have been recording and editing audiobooks for at least 5 years now. Companies are hitting authors with the AI crap, now though. So even that is fading...
How about a professional reconversion? Do you have any state sponsored system in place around that where you live for instance? Or some sort of, system giving you the right to do that after "n" years of work? Something that doesn't cost you an arm essentially
