You will also find plastics from your clothes, furniture, carpeting, draperies and damned near every other synthetic fiber textiles in your world inside your lungs. You still allow these things in your environment. It's much bigger than just masks.
I'm aware, even the tags on some clothes now will avoid saying the fabric when they're 100% of polyester made in China.
I also avoid plastics now when it comes to food prep and cooking. And I have a water pitcher that can filter out micro-plastics.
You can't avoid the plastic fibers that are in the air. Most monofilament dust in our environment is composed of synthetic fibers now. Every home, store, office building and car you have been in has put plastic fibers and particles into your lungs despite your attempts to reduce your exposure to plastics in your food and drink. They are inescapable now.
Examine some dust in your home under 100x magnification and you will see the plastic fibers in it. They are in your body and lungs and you can't prevent it. The genie was let out of the bottle and cannot be put back in. This is why I find this study rather alarmist and bogus. The plastic fibers are everywhere even if you yourself never wore a mask. That's just a fact based on decades of having synthetic fibers in all manner of goods and materials. As I said, they are inescapable.
