I find the "foreknowledge" aspect of conspiracy theories to be the most fruitful and persuasive when direct evidence is absent. People's behavior might appear lucky in the fog of war that exists while the events are taking place, or they might not take steps to conceal their actions because they don't appear out of the ordinary at that time. However, with the gift of hindsight we can find actions of corporations or people which stand out as them having foreknowledge of the events, or them knowing something that the rest of the world didn't.
