The long answer (1h) about ivermectin and omicron: https://odysee.com/@DrMobeenSyed:1/Ivermectin-and-omicron:e
Tl;dr: Ivermectin has about 20 mechanisms of action, there are always enough left.
Omicron has a new mechanism to enter cells, it doesn't need TMPRSS2. This means that TMPRSS2 suppressors like bromhexine don't help anymore.
HCQ changes the pH value of the cell membrane, maybe this effect is more important than before, but nobody tested that.
Anyway, Omicron is half as dangerous than the average influenza virus - no need to worry if you are < 80 years. For some people it's over in 2 days, worst outcome is 3 weeks headache that can be treated with 2 aspirin a day.
My girlfriend apparently read that HCQ still works on newer variants whereas IVM doesn’t. But I have no idea.
I’ve only been taking vitamins and throughout today, I feel no worse than I did when I woke up.
I still haven’t had a fever. I’m hoping that my current actions are staving it off from progressing any further.
Just to put it in perspective: This is from a small study in California - these are your odds compared to an average flu (0.0017% vs 0.0966%): https://pic8.co/sh/eqKORz.png
The main mechanism of action of ivermectin still works (protecting the nucleus of infected cells from proteins that suppress the self defence). It works for many other viruses too because they all use the same mechanism: https://portlandpress.com/biochemsoctrans/article/49/1/281/227568/Antivirals-that-target-the-host-IMP-1-virus
