Energy storage is an issue but there are already many good solutions out there - we may have to pay a little bit more for them if they were to be rolled out now. Northern climates during winter do seem to be a challenge though wind would work there. Biofuels could be useful as well.

The opposite. If it was a half-competent study the world's fantastically wealthy fossil fuel corporations would snap it up and make the authors worldwide heros. The press would go apeshit and you'd never hear the end of it... nice dream, but I wouldn't hold your breath.

Edit: I did mention nuclear is likely to be part of the energy mix - also useful up North.
