Sporadic network connection trouble. Laptop is connected to USB-C docking station, that has a wired connection to a WiFi bridge.

Check network settings on laptop, check router, check WAN. Reboot all involved. Functionality is restored only to conk out a couple days later. This, I'm ashamed to say, went on for weeks, only for tiny periods of time and magically restored itself when I got annoyed enough to find the cause.

MFW it's been a dodgy Ethernet cable all along.

yeah, I always start with all interconnects. I blew someone's mind when I replace a simple power cord that was faulty and their device worked.

"H...how does a power cord go bad?"

China, my friend. China.
