Sporadic network connection trouble. Laptop is connected to USB-C docking station, that has a wired connection to a WiFi bridge.

Check network settings on laptop, check router, check WAN. Reboot all involved. Functionality is restored only to conk out a couple days later. This, I'm ashamed to say, went on for weeks, only for tiny periods of time and magically restored itself when I got annoyed enough to find the cause.

MFW it's been a dodgy Ethernet cable all along.

Wireless, you say? When does the microwave get used? Bad cable will do it for sure, but make sure your airwaves are clear too.

Yeah, it's the cable for sure. Activity lights on the port started to act up when it wasn't seated just so. So easy when you look for the simplest explanation first.

Yep, that's usually the way to go. Sucks when it is more than that though. My previous job had me investigating not obvious problems. I tend to check every angle now.

Yep. I have ran into stuff like that before too. Always start with testing/replacing physical layer first. Then work your way back from there.

yeah, I always start with all interconnects. I blew someone's mind when I replace a simple power cord that was faulty and their device worked.

"H...how does a power cord go bad?"

China, my friend. China.

This is fucked up like a noggers checkbook.

But I do liver your title. Kek
