I have had ads on spewtoob blocked for as long as it was feasible to block them without rewriting the code.

Google has got more active on the google and edge browsers with people blocking ads. Brave is still in the "fuck you google" camp, at least for now. Firefox used to be but now they do whatever Google or the government want.
