Around 1600 service members total, from what I'm hearing. Most of the major departments at the joint bases will remain. More symbolic than transformative. We'll see what happens in a few years though. If they're planning to replace the stuff they operate in Schreiver and Peterson, they'll have a LOT of infrastructure to build first.

The Huntsville area has already been doing quite well. With this move they're going to attract even more prime engineering talent, especially in aerospace.
